WHO IS THIS GROUP FOR?
This group is aimed at young professionals that are: looking to connect with others and share the knowledge they have; learn from others experiences; challenge their day to day; and develop new skills. We are all about personal and professional growth. So if you are looking to grow your network and connect with other people like you, then UPswap is a great place to start!
P.S. If there is any voice right now making you think you aren't good enough, have nothing to share, making you feel anxious about reaching out, or if a bit of imposter syndrome is sneaking in, then we promise this group is for you.

WHO IS A YOUNG PROFESSIONAL?
We use the term young professional to refer to any individual whose current focus is on establishing themselves as a "professional" (paid or unpaid). If retirement still looks far enough away and you don't consider yourself at the senior level of your career, then UPswap likely could be a good fit for you.

OUR COMMUNITY
We aim to establish a safe community welcoming of all individuals interested in joining.
Our membership includes working individuals, individuals who are unemployed, recent graduates, people who never went to post-secondary, people who went back to post-secondary, young parents, entrepreneurs, immigrants and more!

It goes without saying but we will say it anyway, our community is a safe space and will have zero-tolerance for hatred of any kind.

We are based out of Nova Scotia, Canada, though some members do join us from other provinces.
We host monthly meetings and anyone is welcome to join in-person or virtually.

As we grow, we are also establishing a community that can connect virtually at any time utilizing platforms such as LinkedIn groups. The initiative aims to meet the unique needs of each member and will grow and adapt accordingly.

Joy Samuel
Hi! My name is Joy and I am a young professional living and working in Nova Scotia. My friend Sahil Ahuja and I are keen to connect with other young people like us. After graduating university, I found there was a real gap between the connections and services I had access to on campus and those available as a new working professional. From learning how to create budgets to contributing at board meetings, it was evident that being able to connect with other young professionals, who already had some of these skills, would be a game changer. So, after 2 years of forming the idea, and listening to others with similar needs, I pitched the idea to my friend Sahil. Boasting his creativity, technical skills and far reaching connections within Halifax, Sahil collaborates with me to help promote and shape this initiative. I can't wait to connect with you!
